| Define Sites in DreamweaverMX |
|
A single web site consists of different files. These files are related to each other in special ways that are related to each other through their links. All these files that make up the web site must be arranged and organized in as special way that it reflects the web sites' file structure. The whole process is known as web designing and the designing of a site can be done with the help of Dreamweaver. This tutorial will helps you to define a web site and thus organize the related files of it to reflect its underlying file structure. We also provide tutorials for Flash, Fireworks and Photoshop
Steps to define a web site in DreamweaverMX
- To start with, create a new folder to save all the required files and documents (images, word documents etc) needed for the web site. Give a proper name to identify it.
- The next step is to make folder you have now created, available as a local root folder to your web site. You have to open the 'New' option in the 'Manage site window' from 'site' and change the settings as required. The site name specifies the name given to the site. Browse and select the folder (that you have created) through the local root folder. There are options for entering the Site url and to enable or disable the cache. Note that you must check the "refresh local file list automatically' to check to automatically refresh the local root folder when a new item is added into it.

- You have successfully defined and organized you web site. The contents of the local root folder can be viewed in the Files Panel which is on the right side. By defining the site Dreamweaver can organize the site's contents and the searching procedure for local files will be easier. Now you can start designing and building your web site.
