Timeline Motion tween effect in FlashMX 2004

This tutorial will teach you about Timeline Motion Tween effect.

There are two types of tweened animation using timeline can create in Flash.

Motion Tween&
Shape Tween


The basics of Flash is Creation of Motion/Shape tween using timeline.

 

Motion tween is as simple as tweening a Symbol's movement from one position to another.

To do thiis, provide Flash with Symbol's initial position and the end position. Flash will take care about the rest.

 

Please note:

  1. You need Flash Player 7.0 installed to view and
  2. Flash MX 2004 should be installed to download the .fla file.

Steps to follow:

  • Open a new file (Ctrl+N).
    Choose General panel and choose Type: Flash Document. Press OK.
  • Press (Ctrl+Alt+T) to open the timeline window, if its not opened.
  • Now you can see the "Layer1" in your timeline window.
  •

  • Select the first frame. Import an image onto stage.
    File>Import>Import to Stage, or (Ctrl+R).
    Else you can even draw an object, by Rectangular tool or Oval tool from the tool box.
  • Then select the object on the stage and press F8 to convert this to a Symbol.
    Name it and select Graphic behavior then press OK.
  •  

    Note: You should convert the object to a Symbol first, then only you can create motion tween, because it works only on symbols.

  • Right now your Symbol is in frame1 of Layer1. Select frame 20 and press F8 to insert a new keyframe.
  • Still keeping playhead on frame 20, move your Symbol to any other position other than the present one.
  • Select any frame between, 2 to 19 and select Motion from the tween pop-up menu in the Property inspector. Now your Layer will look like the one below.
  •  

     

  • Now press (Ctrl+Enter) to view the motion tween.
